Caring for Your Eyelash Extensions

Eyelash Extensions

Don’t Get Them Wet or Apply Mascara Directly After Application
The adhesive used for eyelash extensions needs a full 24 hours to set. Do not let them get wet for 24 hours. If you shower, be sure to protect your face. Just to be safe, avoid hot yoga, saunas, excessive heat or sweating for a few days after application.

Don’t Use Oil-Based Products

Check out the ingredients listed on your eye creams, makeup removers, and crème shadows you currently have in your arsenal—you’ll want to take a break from anything that contains oil. Any oils will degrade the special lash glue and shorten the life of your lash extensions

Don’t Use Waterproof Mascara

Realistically, your lashes will look so amazing most people never even wear mascara anymore, but if you do, apply the product only to the very tips of them since the formula could mess with the glue at the base of your lashes. Waterproof mascaras are a big no-no, and could end up in a few lost extensions (or even worse, your own lashes) especially during the removal process.

Don’t Pull at Them

Lash extensions typically last anywhere from 2-4 weeks, so during the tail end of their run, you may notice more fallout than usual. Don’t panic, and resist the urge to tug at the remaining extensions as this could damage your natural lashes. If it gets unbearable, call us for a fill! Sometimes lashes take some time to get used to and until your a seasoned expert you may need to come for a fill after just a couple of weeks and that’s okay and perfectly normal! Just like getting your nails done, lashes do require about the same maintenance- so relax and let us keep them looking fresh!

Don’t Try and Fix Them Yourself

Just don’t! Call us for or schedule online for removal!

Leave Them Alone

The most important yet the most simple rule, that often gets missed! As tempting as it is to touch and play with your new lashes this can cause damage to the bonds since it takes 24 hours to fully cure! Sleeping on them or messing with them will decrease the life of the adhesive AND can make extra lashes fall out.

Get Fills Regularly

Just like artificial nails, your new extensions need regular maintenance too (fills every 2-4 weeks). The minute your lashes start looking sparse or you are getting more fall out lashes, call us to get in for a fill! If it’s your first time getting lashes, I recommend to go ahead and schedule a fill after two weeks to be safe. This is pretty average for first timers!

It Is Normal To Lose Lashes

It is completely normal to lose lashes, it’s all apart of the process. We use so many during application that naturally some will even shed on day one. More lashes will shed on the tail end of when you will need a fill so make sure to call us to schedule a fill when you start noticing grow-out or more lashes than usual are starting to shed. Your natural lashes shed over time, and without having lash extensions this process is generally never noticed. This process can be more noticeable with lash extensions, so call us for a fill when needed!
